The following Terms and Conditions apply to all Ethics Olympiad events, including School Events, Tertiary Events, International Finals, and Training Clinics.<\/span><\/p>\n

By registering for or participating in any Ethics Olympiad event, the registrant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

1. General Conditions<\/span><\/p>\n

1.1 Event Delivery<\/span><\/p>\n

1.1.1 Ethics Olympiad events are conducted online via Zoom on scheduled dates.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.1.2 The organisers will provide ethical cases and relevant materials to registered participants prior to the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.1.3 Organisers reserve the right to amend event formats, schedules, or procedures where reasonably necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

1.2 Registration and Participation<\/span><\/p>\n

1.2.1 Participation is confirmed only upon receipt of full payment.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.2.2 Each participating institution must provide a supervising teacher or coach.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.2.3 Participants must comply with all instructions issued by organisers and judges.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

1.3 Conduct<\/span><\/p>\n

1.3.1 Participants must engage respectfully at all times.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.3.2 The use of mobile phones, laptops, or pre-prepared notes during heats or finals is prohibited unless expressly permitted.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.3.3 Breaches may result in penalties, disqualification, or removal from the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

2. Event Format and Scoring<\/span><\/p>\n

2.1 Scores from all heats will be aggregated to determine final rankings.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.2 In the event of a tie, rankings will be determined by highest scores in the first heat.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.3 Where multiple judges assess a heat, scores will be averaged.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.4 Where an uneven number of teams participate, a rotating bye system may apply, with averaged scores assigned.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.5 All judging decisions are final.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

3. Results and Awards<\/span><\/p>\n

3.1 Results will be communicated to supervising teachers or coaches following the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.2 Certificates will be issued electronically.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.3 Medals will be distributed to institutions for presentation.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.4 Individual scores will not be disclosed.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

4. Event Capacity<\/span><\/p>\n

4.1 A minimum of seven teams is required for an event to proceed.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.2 The maximum number of teams per region in an event is thirty, excluding finals.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.3 Medals will only be awarded where a minimum of five teams participate.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.4 Organisers reserve the right to divide events into multiple groups where required.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

5. Technology and Access<\/span><\/p>\n

5.1 Participants are responsible for ensuring access to Zoom and a stable internet connection.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.2 Organisers will make reasonable efforts to assist with technical issues but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.3 Where a major failure in service delivery occurs within the organisers\u2019 control, remedies will be provided in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Recording<\/span><\/p>\n

6.1 Events are not routinely recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n

6.2 Some Training Clinics may be recorded for use\/distribution to participating schools and teachers after the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

7. Insurance and Compliance<\/span><\/p>\n

7.1 The Ethics Olympiad maintains appropriate insurance coverage.<\/span><\/p>\n

7.2 All organisers hold current Working With Children checks, available upon request.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

8. Cancellations and Refunds<\/span><\/p>\n

8.1 A full refund, less a 10% administration fee, will be provided where cancellation is made at least two months prior to the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

8.2 No refunds will be provided for cancellations within two months of the event, except where required under Australian Consumer Law.<\/span><\/p>\n

8.3 If an event is cancelled by the organisers, participants may elect to receive:<\/span><\/p>\n

(a) a full refund; or<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) a transfer to a future event.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

9. Liability<\/span><\/p>\n

9.1 To the extent permitted by law, the organisers are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from participation.<\/span><\/p>\n

9.2 Nothing in these Terms excludes rights under Australian Consumer Law.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

10. School Events<\/span><\/p>\n

10.1 Each school may enter:<\/span><\/p>\n

(a) one team of up to five students; or<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) two teams, each with up to five students.<\/span><\/p>\n

10.2 Full team fees apply regardless of team size.<\/span><\/p>\n

10.3 Students must fall within the designated age category during the calendar year of participation:<\/span><\/p>\n

(a) Junior: 9\u201312 years<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) Middle: 12\u201315 years<\/span><\/p>\n

(c) Senior: 15\u201319 years<\/span><\/p>\n

10.4 Teams may include multiple year levels but must not exceed the maximum age for the category.<\/span><\/p>\n

10.5 All team members must be from the same school. Home-schooled students may participate as a team.<\/span><\/p>\n

10.6 Reserves:<\/span><\/p>\n

(a) Schools may include reserve students.<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) Substitutions may occur before or after a round, but not during a round.<\/span><\/p>\n

(c) A maximum of five medals will be awarded per team.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

11. Tertiary Events<\/span><\/p>\n

11.1 Each university may enter:<\/span><\/p>\n

(a) one team of five students; or<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) two teams, with a maximum of ten students in total.<\/span><\/p>\n

11.2 Participants must be enrolled undergraduate students at the time of the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

11.3 Teams are expected to compete as registered. Substitutions should be made prior to the event where possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

11.4 No refunds will be provided for late withdrawals or forfeits.<\/span><\/p>\n

11.5 A maximum of five medals will be awarded per medal-winning team.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

12. International Finals (Middle and Senior Only)<\/span><\/p>\n

12.1 Teams awarded Gold or Silver medals may be invited to participate at the organisers\u2019 discretion.<\/span><\/p>\n

12.2 Event formats may be modified to accommodate scheduling and time zone requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n

12.3 Where teams withdraw, organisers may implement bye systems or adjust scoring as required.<\/span><\/p>\n

12.4 Teams must provide at least one month\u2019s notice for withdrawal.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

13. Training Clinics<\/span><\/p>\n

13.1 Training clinics are delivered online and are subject to these Terms.<\/span><\/p>\n

13.2 Participation is subject to availability.<\/span><\/p>\n

13.3 Participants must engage appropriately. Disruptive participants may be removed.<\/span><\/p>\n

13.4 The cancellation and refund policy in Section 8 applies.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/b><\/p>\n

14. Australian Consumer Law<\/span><\/p>\n

14.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights under Australian Consumer Law.<\/span><\/p>\n

14.2 Where services fail to meet consumer guarantees, participants may be entitled to remedies including refund, replacement, or resupply, depending on the nature of the failure.<\/span><\/p>\n

15. Acceptance<\/span><\/p>\n
